Facebook-owned messaging app WhatsApp is known for being home to several new features every now and then. Taking this forward, the app is soon to receive a new update which will lead to new features.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp for Android is testing version 2.19.3 and is likely to add a new authentication feature to open up the app using the fingerprint.
The new feature will reside in the Privacy section and will require users to authenticate prior to using the app either from the app icon, notifications or external pickers.

To clarify, the feature will protect the entire app and not individual chats.
In case the app is unable to recognize the fingerprint of the registered user, it will require the device credentials to open up the app.
The Authentication feature is currently in the initial stage and will eventually launch with final improvements and changes.
Furthermore, WhatsApp could get a standalone section for audio files, dubbed the Audio Picker which will allow for easy files sharing with other users. The users will be able to hear the audio before sending it and send more audio files at once.

Additionally, the upcoming WhatsApp update will add general improvements and bug fixes.
Since the update is not live, we expect the aforementioned features to be available in the near future. We keep you updated once the features go live. Therefore, stay tuned
